Sling-angle reference, WLL lookup and wind-load calculator.
Sling lookup
Data transcribed from Lifting & Safety International AS load tables (EN 818-4, EN 13414-1, EN 1492-1/2). The on-camera overlay is a visual reference only. Always verify against the original manufacturer documentation. Angle β is measured from the vertical axis (EN-table convention). 0° = straight vertical pull, 30° = least spread, 60° = max permitted spread.
Wind load — vindtrykk
Pressure (kg/m²) = (m/s)² ÷ 16 · Force (kg) = pressure × area
Simplified estimate: q = v² ÷ 16 (kg/m²), force = q × h × w. Assumes a flat, fully exposed face perpendicular to the wind. Real loads with shape factors, gusts, or sheltered sides should be assessed against NS-EN 13001 / NS-EN 1991-1-4.
About this tool
LiftRightWay is a free, browser-based lifting calculator for riggers, crane operators and lifting supervisors. Pick a sling type, attachment, leg configuration and angle to get the WLL in tonnes, computed from published EN-table values × the configuration factor.
- Chain slings — Grade 80 and Grade 100 (EN 818-4).
- Wire rope slings — 6×19 / 6×36 / 8×36, grade 1770 (EN 13414-1).
- Fibre slings — polyester, EN 1492 colour-coded (Violet 1 t → Orange 40 t).
- Hitch types — straight, choked, U-lift / basket and basket 0–30°.
- Multi-leg — 1 leg, 2 legs, 3 / 4 legs, plus asymmetric (rated as one-leg per EN tables).
- Live camera overlay — reference lines at β = 0° (vertical/plumb), 30°, 45° and 60° from vertical. Capture a photo with the overlay and configuration burned in for lift-plan documentation.
- Wind-load (vindtrykk) calculator — q = v² / 16 (kg/m²), force = q × area.
